During the long winter night, a boy sets out to carve a man in a canoe. He calls the little man "Paddle to the Sea". He sets the carving down on a frozen stream to await the coming of spring. The film charts the adventures that befall the canoe on its long trip from Lake Superior to the sea. Broadcast during the 1982-1984 revival of the Festival.
