Title: Invent to Learn: Hard fun and problem solving — where computing meets tinkering and design
Description: There's a technological and creative revolution underway. Amazing new tools, materials and skills turn us all into makers. Using technology to make, repair or customize the things we need brings engineering, design and computer science to the masses. Building on the now robust case for project-based learning, making, tinkering, and engineering, Sylvia's keynote will include examples of children engaged in complex problem solving with new game-changing technologies and explore ways in which the new move to Make is allowing kids to explore powerful ideas. Key strategies from the Reggio Emilia Approach, breakthroughs in science education, and the global maker movement all combine to create rich learning experiences which are giving kids a new and important voice for their learning.
