The Center for Agriculture at UMass Amherst is growing kenaf in New England for the first time, evaluating the local potential for this eco-friendly plant. Cultivated for its fiber, kenaf can be a valuable source for recyclable paper, fodder and other sustainable materials. Faculty member Masoud Hashemi explains the project, launched in 2010.
