In the sad town
cold iron hands clap
the party of clowns outside
rain falls in gray far away
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the evening sun going down
when the earth streams in, in the morning
send a cage through the post
make your name like a ghost
please, please, Baby Lemonade

I'm screaming, I met you this way
you're nice to me like ice
in the clock they sent through a washing machine
come around, make it soon, so alone...
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the sad town
cold iron hands clap
the party of clowns outside
rain falls in gray far away
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the evening sun going down
when the earth streams in, in the morning
send a cage through the post
make your name like a ghost
please, please, Baby Lemonade

Syd always was a more talented songwriter than Roger Waters

PF: great musicians all ... but Syd was the one & only true genius. His influence carried them all the way to Meddle, but that was it. Different band after that. Not a fan after Meddle. Such amazingly creative Psych-Jam-Prog. Thanks for the music, Syd.

Yeah he placed the insects down for it. Strange guy, but there was a LOT going on in that boy's head. +Wil Hobbs

Temple of the Dog is doing an awesome cover of this song on their present mini-tour. I had the good fortune of seeing/hearing it live in San Francisco a couple nights ago. It was, of course, the highlight of the night for me!!! :)

Thanks for confirming Syd's lasting impact on today's artists, you lucky concert attendee! As I listened to this song, I wondered if Phish ever attempted a cover...so perfect for them...

Can someone tell me what the big deal about Syd Barrett is? I have yet to find anything impressive about him.

What made him great was his ability to keep stupid cunts like you out of his fanbase.

The big deal about Syd Barrett is that he made unique compositions which sounded ate the same time very musical and unusual, combined with an advanced skill in verbal language which spans from plays on words and humor to abstract painting-like poetry, full of images. It's really psychedelic blues- you can feel the blues thumping shadow in pretty much all of his work, as he was a blues fan. He was also a good guitarist, good singer and remarkable character. Without him there would be no Pink Floyd. He is Pink Floyd to me. His solo albums, although less polished, are great accomplishments of his genius. He was also a good painter. He wrote most of PF's first album, apart from very good songs released as singles, like Apples and Oranges, See Emily Play and others.
