Hopes for the swift evacuation of stranded Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula and other government officials held up in Mali have been watered down after the pilots of the chartered plane refused to land in Bamako citing insecurity even after being cleared to land by the Malian military. The development comes just hours after Wetangula had declined to board a United Nations light aircraft flying out of Bamako as it had only one seat available and he opted to remain behind with other stranded Kenyans, offering the seat to one Kenyan instead.
