On this Airstream Life vLog, we take you on a few adventures in North Western Virginia.

First stop is the Bear's Den which is a stop along the Appalachian Trail for thru-hikers and day-trippers alike. We go for a quick hike with the family to an overlook with beautiful views before having a picnic near the lodge. The carving on the tree in the parking lot is really amazing here too. Anyway now we can say we've hiked the Appalachian Trail....we'll at least a bit of it ;)

Our next adventure is to Luray Caverns which are the largest caves in this area. On first impression, this tour wasn't for us. WAAAY too many people! It's a guided tour which costs a decent amount of money so we weren't thrilled with the huge crowds. But the cave was totally worth it in the end.

While much of the cave was similar to others we have explored it did have a few key unique features. First was the giant shallow pool of water in one of the rooms. Wow! The stalactites on the ceiling were reflected in the water below making it seem like identical stalagmites were growing from the floor. It was absolutely amazing to see and we've never seen anything like it! The other cool feature was that this cave includes the worlds largest organ. The organ actually plays the stalactites! Wow! It took someone a long time to tap each stalactite and find the right ones for the right notes. Listening to a song played by a cave was an experience I will never forget.

As part of your ticket price to Luray Caverns you also get access to a few museums on the property. We decided to stop into the Car Museum and we are glad we did. We got to see cars we had only ever read about and learn things we never knew, like how the first electric car was invented in the early 1900s! Seeing the cars in person really helps with understanding how far automobiles have come in 100 years!

That's it for today's adventures. Stay tuned in the next video for our last few days at Candy Hill before moving on to Maryland.
