It is important to note that while this music was inspired by the work of the artists, it is not officially sanctioned by the artist or the artist's estate.

This music was created as a soundtrack to Public/Private, an art show featuring the collections of Gerald Mead and the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University. This exhibition, presented at the gallery from March 6 -- August 14, 2011, brought together two important art collections— one assembled privately and one defined and developed publicly —that converge on the mutual passion for building and utilizing collections of art to best serve art audiences in Western New York and beyond.

Works by artists from the Castellani Art Museum's permanent collection were paired with works by the same artists in Gerald Mead's well-known private collection. These included Charles Burchfield, Ellen Carey, Charles Clough, Nancy Dwyer, Bonnie Gordon, Biff Henrich, Robert Longo, Robert Mangold, John Pfahl, Joseph Piccillo, Ad Reinhardt, Milton Rogovin, Susan Rothenberg, Christy Rupp, Cindy Sherman, Andrew Topolski and Michael Zwack among many others.

The music, like the collections in the exhibit, is a mix of different styles — from one song to the next, and even within a song. Fans of Brian Eno, Four Tet, film music, sound collage, and experimental electronics and sampling will surely find something to enjoy here.
