Part 1
On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., the Concho Valley Regional Law Enforcement Academy will graduate seventeen peace officer recruits from the 61st Basic Peace Officer Academy. The graduation ceremony will be held at the San Angelo Convention Center, 500 Rio Concho Drive in San Angelo.

Of the seventeen graduates, twelve members of the class are employed by the San Angelo Police Department. The San Angelo recruits are Antonio Aguilar, Jason Chegwidden, Ethan Farmer, Corey Halfmann, Erica Pagano, Clinton Roebuck, Benjamin Spencer, Juan Soto, Jr., Eric Tabone, Victoria Torres, Michael Webber, and Justin Weston. Graduating for other agencies will be Michael Franco, Rachelle Lacy, Jerry Marlett, Walter Pierce, and Billy Williams.

The recruits will have completed an extensive 912 hour academy at which time they will have learned basic law enforcement skills. Following graduation, the San Angelo recruits, called Apprentice Police Officers (APOs), will participate 296 hours of department in-service training before being assigned to a 560 hour Police Training Program. The Police Training Program is designed to teach the APOs how best to use the skills acquired in the academy and in-service training.
