This song usually is prefaced by a story about how his best friend (a highly regarded musician whose name I'm blanking on) up and decided to move to Nashville. You gotta hand it to a straight guy who will write and perform a love song to another man. Vance! We miss you in ASHEVILLE! Come on back!
When it comes to connecting with the audience, Vance Gilbert is one of the best I've ever encountered. By the time he's halfway through his first set, every single person is totally in love with him and ready to move to Boston (or wherever he lives now) just so they can drink smoothies together at the Whole Foods or whatever. This man is the real deal and I sure hope he's got an amazing woman in his life because he just emanates love and heat and nebbishness.

You probably won't believe it, but I have seen a part of one of his shows on TV (in Hungary. I'm Hungarian). It was about 8 years ago, and I couldn't find his music in the stores. However I remembered his name and the title of this song.. Now I have the song after so many years. Listening to it again made me a different person.. The beatboxing is great, but maybe it doesn't fit the song.. That's why it's not there in the album version.. I Love this guy. He truly is a great performer..
Vance is great... I've seen him probably 4 or 5 times and he is quite the performer. I find his comedy good but I must say i like the stripped down versions of his songs. I mean the beatboxing does nothing for me and it often boarders on turning a great song awakward/less appealing. Unfortunatly Vance never plays any of his earlier stuff either...Oh well, good work on the vid and pretty good sound quality as well.
