Jackie Wilson pop video made by Giblets (Rob MacGillivray, Mike Sumpter, Carol MacGillivray and Michael Olley) for the re-release of the record in 1987. We had already done a showreel piece of claymation for Jackie Wilson which resulted in Reet Petite becoming number one in the UK charts. The record company let us choose which single to re-release next and let us shoot whatever we wanted within a small budget. We had no good footage of Jackie to work with so we came up with this to try and express what our favourite Jackie Wilson song meant to us. We were just trying to create a moment in time for two people in love.
We directed lots of stuff together as Giblets, but if it was all going to get burned this is the one I would pull out the fire first. It meant a lot to me at the time and it still does.
It was shot on film and all the effects happened in the camera. Blessings to Hugh Gordon for his patience and guidance as the DOP.
This is just a fantastic song, beautifully sung. But many thanks to the people who have posted lovely comments about the video and I'm glad it continues to gain the great Jackie Wilson a wider audience.
