Gross, who is also an active set and costume designer as well as a teacher, works in many media. She has exhibited internationally, and her art is in numerous significant public and private collections. She has collaborated with several artists and designers, such as Charles Bernstein on the book Some of These Daze, which included her on-site drawings after September 11, 2001; Red Grooms on Ruckus installations and films including Ruckus Manhattan; Douglas Dunn since 1978 on sets and costumes for such dances as Sky Eye, Matches, Pulcinella, Rubble Dance, Spell for the Opening of the Mouth of N, and Cocca Mocca. She is currently at work on several projects including artwork for a Brooklyn neighborhood playground with an anatomical theme.
