Diabetes can have a large impact on the family of the sufferer in terms of the way they live their lives and from having to support a person with diabetes.

People who have relatives with diabetes often want to know what they can do to help out, especially when the person has only been recently diagnosed. When it comes to diabetes, education is usually the best tool for combating it. The more you understand about the disease, the more you can help out.

A good example of this would be learning the signs of low blood sugar. When people are experiencing a hypo, often the confusion they feel can stop them from realising what is going on. If you can recognise the symptoms, you could help alert them to the situation so realise so they can stop it.
