David Harvey talks to the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) about the Princess Margriet Award laureates, Teatro Valle Occupato and Teodor Celakoski about the role of culture in building a more democratic engagement with the urban environment. Harvey speaks about the need for traditions of commoning to grow and an insistence that neither the state nor private interests should stop citizens from exercising democratic rights in their city.

The interview took place during the "Citizenship, Orientalism and Commons' conference organised by Oeucumene Project and Teatro Valle Occupato.
