First (and most definitely not the last) trip to the Webb River in Ethiopia's Bale Mountains with fellow Aussie and avid bird watcher Clint, to try our hand at catching wild Rainbow Trout. Wasn't quite sure what to expect with mixed reports of what was in store for us.

The trout, predominantly rainbows with some browns in some of the other rivers by all accounts, were stocked by the Peace Corp in the 60's and 70's (depending on which account you read) from Kenyan stock.

At the end of two days of extraordinary fishing we had landed and released 75 fish between us with only one out of four trout streams fished!

Our guide Taha, the guy in the white hat, didn't speak a word of English but as much as it sounds like a cliche, the universal language of happy fisherman was all we needed to get by!
