Video by Caroline Webb using words written or spoken by American writer and teacher Thomas Berry on core points of the human-Earth relationship. Special thanks to composer Martin Buntrock from Germany for his music track 'Early Morning' on album Atlantik Symphony.
From childhood through to the end of his life Thomas Berry (1914 - 2009) was gripped by a deep concern that humans could wreck the natural world from which we emerged unless a new philosophy - a new cosmology - came into being which serves to protect all life on Earth. His work as a writer, teacher and public speaker calls for deeper reflection by people in all walks of life about how their existence impacts other species and the natural systems which sustain everything. A key and central component of such reflection is the modern scientific narrative about how the universe has evolved from an initial burst of pure energy into the rich, beautiful, complex world we experience and observe today. From this spectacular story woven from the findings of all the sciences we draw the emotional energy, infused with wonder, to practically address the challenges and conundrums of our relationship with nature.
