Most of us have seen quick glimpses of X-Rays, P.E.T., C.A.T., and MRI images on TV and news programs, but rarely do we get a close-up view in high resolution to study in detail. In this video, we get to see a series of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) sequences hot off the scanner. These are the actual images that the 2.5-million-dollar machine produced, and are those which the doctors work directly with - not scaled-down versions which one is most likely to find online.
There are typically 24 to 28 images per sequence, each image representing a cross-section "slice" of the target body part, in this case my right knee. There are 9 sequences total, each one presented as a single pass through the sequence at 5 frames per second, which should allow the video to be paused for a closer look at any given frame.
Then, three of the more interesting sequences are shown at 15fps and cycled back and forth a couple of times to give a more fluid visual of traveling through the knee structure.
Finally, there are a couple of slow pans across a couple of the images for a really close-up view.
