Guido was probably the most gifted and most successful of all whistling artists. He toured Europe between 1904 and 1925, and also visited the United States in 1911, and Australia in 1912. One of his spectacular specialties was to perform duets with himself, using his own gramophone recordings Gialdini recorded extensively on a great variety of labels (...), also for American labels such as Columbia, Okeh and Victor. (Rainer E. Lotz, German Ragtime & Prehistory Of Jazz, Chigwell 1985).
Gialdini's rendition of "The Sheik" was recorded for Vox in early 1923 in Berlin. Amazingly, he didn't hesitate to include a few timid "jazz" variations in the last 2 chorusses.
