Eleanor of Aquitaine was the mother of Richard of Lionheart and King John of Magna Carta fame. The queen of King Henry the Second she was the most powerful woman in Europe and reputed to be one of the most beautiful as well. Historian Alison Weir, who has already written a non-fiction biography of Eleanor, has now added to her shelf the historical fiction "Captive Queen".
