With the historic election of President Barack Obama in 2008, may hoped that we would not only see a change in the United States of America's use of torture, but that those responsible for violating international laws would be held accountable for their war crimes and crimes against humanity. Instead, what we saw the a continuation of a process that not only enables and even endorses torture, but that uses classic propaganda to make these crimes legal and deceive the public into thinking that torture is valuable and necessary.
