Another favorite exercise for abs are cable crunches. I do them quite often and with about 80% of the weight I could do. As many reps as possible, in most cases my hands can't hold the rope anymore hahaha.
Most important is to flex all related muscles during the whole movement: intercostals, serratus, lower abs... It's much harder to do than just the movement but gives much better results.
