I built the Joule Thief circuit using a vintage PNP germanium transistor (2N1373). These transistors have a lower junction voltage and can run down to .2 volts. The video shows the last bit of energy lighting the white led to .208 volts. Because it is a PNP, reverse the regular circuit's battery and led polarity.
