Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation on Detroit's west side is partnering with Dixon Elementary school on an urban gardening project to increase the availability of fresh vegetables and herbs for residents in the neighborhood. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan provides funding to Joy-Southfield's free health clinic and to Dixon Elementary to support their childhood obesity prevention program. The urban gardening collaborative project aligns with the Blues mission to build healthier communities.
