On Aug. 2, 2007, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) received over 100,000 Petitions from citizens across the country demanding the Impeachment of Vice-President Dick Cheney. The popular Congressman from Ohio is a leader in the House of Representatives on this important Constitutional issue. On April 24, 2007, he introduced, via H Res 333, Articles of Impeachment against V.P. Cheney. At the press conference: Rep. Kucinich renewed his charges that the V.P. had "fabricated" the Intelligence process to take us into the Iraqi war and that he had also "subverted" the national security of the nation in the process, which has led to the deaths of "more than 3,500" U.S. troops in the conflict; and to the deaths of an estimated "1,000,000 innocent Iraqis." As of today, H Res 333 has 16 cosponsors. The event was held in Room HC-8 of the U.S. Capitol. Presenting the Petitions to Rep. Kucinich was activist Gail Murphy of Code Pink. Petition signature have been collected at http://impeachcheney.org and by a Coalition of more than two dozen progressive groups. According to a press release for the affair, Working Assets has collected 50,000 signature in this effort, True Majority has collected 49,000 signatures, and the combined forces of Democrats.com and AfterDowningStreet.org have collected "an additional 28,000 signatures in support of impeaching the Vice President."
