My 8-year-old daughter sings the opening theme of Schoenberg's 4th String Quartet, op. 37. Lyrics by John Heiss. This melody is a 12-tone row, and should be proof that identifying with a 12-tone melody isn't that hard. It took me about 4 minutes to teach it to her. (It did cost me a dollar!) I also discuss how Schoenberg uses 12-tone rows to communicate ideas to the listener. To hear the entire 1st movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iUeqn...
