Forest fires have killed at least 25 people and left two thousands homeless in central Russia as a heatwave grips much of the country. The situation has escalated following weeks of record breaking temperatures. More than a thousand homes have been destroyed and over 600 hectares of forest have caught fire across the country. Strong winds have been fanning the flames, with villages, summer camps and hospitals being evacuated. A total of two hundred thousand fire fighters are involved in operations with more people and machinery being brought to the region.
