(this happend on may 26, 2008 memorial) day.Five people were killed and 16 people were critically injured in a fiery six-vehicle wreck in the 7100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, in South Los Angeles, Monday evening. The chain-reaction crash happened at about 6 p.m. Monday. The wreckage was cleared by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they believe the events began when a Chevy Blazer speeding south on Crenshaw ran a red light and collided with a Honda Odyssey van carrying eight people. Police said three children in the van, ages 12, 7 and 4, were declared dead at the scene. At least one of the children was eje Two other victims died at a hospital, police said, and 16 others were critically injured. Police said at least two of the critically injured victims were children. More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene, and a triage area was set up at 74th Street and Crenshaw after the crash. The identities of the victims had not yet been released cted from the van. All the children were from the same family, police said. "NBC" Los Angeles Reported.
