New world record for largest snowball fight set in Seattle

Full story:
Downtown Seattle erupted in a blizzard of snowballs on Saturday, as thousands of people took part in an icy battle.

Their mission? To break the record for the World's Largest Snowball Fight and earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Organizers transported nearly 200,000 pounds of snow from nearby mountains to the Seattle Center.

The snow was used to build huge snow forts and castles ahead of the big battle.

Almost 6000 people, many wearing helmets and goggles, joined the massive snowball fight

That was enough to beat the previous record of 5,387 participants, set in South Korea in 2010.

All proceeds from the Seattle event went to the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County.
