The trail project included the construction of 1.27 miles of 10 feet wide trail from Highway I-435 to Alex George Lake. This project is part of a greenway trail system that extends from Kansas to Missouri connecting five cities. This was a joint project between the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department and the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Departments.

This project has been supported, in whole or in part, by the U.S. Department of Energy - Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under Grant Award Number DE-EE0000758 from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program made available pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. Project was also funded in part by the TE Program Administer by MODOT and local PIAC a Kansas City MO a Capital Improvement sales tax program.
