So, what should we expect in the Nikon D5100?
It's a given that we'd expect the Nikon D5100 to include improved image sensitivity, noise handling, a newer higher resolution sensor as well as an advances in the video mode but how does that translate in to real specs? While the Canon EOS 600D remains at a high of 18 megapixels, it would be interesting if the D5100 also shares the same sensor to that of the Nikon D3100. Given that the D5000 had a better sensor than the D3000, it would make a lot of sense if the D5100 also up the ante in its release. Personally, a 16.2 megapixels CMOS sensor from the D7000 would be the perfect option. Using the same AF system and exposure metering as the D3100 but offering high ISO sensitivity like the D7000 would keep the model somewhat balanced between the two existing models.
