The Franz-Josef-Railroad was constructed as one of three rivaling mainlines Vienna - Prague during the times of the monarchy. Nowadays it is particularly interesting to railfans as the oldest ÖBB rolling stock is often in service there, including class 1042 electrics and Schlieren coaches.
