AMERICAN HISTORY IN PICTURES: Old Black America

I cannot believe the mixed raced people of today are complaining about our beautiful mixed race brothers and sisters in this video! First, almost all if not all women of color who were enslaved were raped in the past. I have not seen any older Americans of color with pure African genetics. Now, the racial mixing is more consensual. In the past (pre 1800's) it was most likely not. There were few people of color in America in the early centuries so the mixed races had only other mixed races and the few pure Africans to marry. Most people in America with red and yellow undertones are not pure Africans. I am sorry but this is the majority if not the entire American population. Also, Many of the handsome dark brown brothers and sisters are mixed. Mixed is not always light brown with wavy hair. Mixed is also dark brown because the African genetics is very strong. Please stop falling for that divide and conquer plot against your people again. Wake up and learn from the past. Apparently, we fell from a much better place by being divided and not sticking together. These pictures should be appreciated-these mighty people turned lead into gold and they did not have to disgrace themselves by fighting on a reality TV show or by stripping for money.

To all who will read this post, I don't give a dime about the hair or hue of these beautiful black people. The past told in pictures have shown me that even in the worst of circumstances, black people from colleges, trade schools, gatherings and even in everyday life, managed to maintain their beauty, standards, spirituality, pride, love for family and the communities with the vigilance of brilliant and resilient people. If they could manage to have a well lived life, then I have nothing to complain about today. It's time for me to stop posting because it's becoming redundant and negative. Grow up people there are more important things in life than worrying about who is mixed-raced and who is dark-skinned enough for you.

Beautiful portraits! At a time when wearing nice clothes like that would certainly get you lynched!? Very sad what African Americans had to go through then and now!

And for that reason alone, American blacks should NOT be called "African". It's stupid. Blacks in the Dominican Republic aren't called African latinos. In Brazil, although there's racism, I don't believe blacks in Brazil are referred to as African. In Trinidad, blacks are not called African-Trinidadian.

I enjoyed this video because the images show a distinguished group of people even back in the 1800's.
