1938 'Art Deco design' McMichael 386 playing a 78rpm record, "The Stately Homes of England" written and sung by Noel Coward. This wonderful old Radiogram was kindly donated by Mr Tony Statham of Welwyn Garden City and restored by me a few years ago after a very long period of inactivity. No valves needed to be replaced. The speaker energizing coil was open circuit and a good many capacitors needed replacement. The steel needles have to be replaced after each play. The cabinet is finished in heavy walnut, the angled inlay in Sycamore and the darker inlay, ebony. Beautifully made, its hard now to grasp the fact that in 1938 it cost £21. This radiogram was made in Slough, England.
