Firefighters are working on a structure fire Friday morning in northeast Denver.

The fire, at 3421 Franklin St., started about 7:30 a.m., according to a Denver Fire Department dispatcher.

Dark, black smoke is streaming from the single-family home in the Cole neighborhood.

One person was injured in the fire, which likely started in a garage and included two explosions, said Charlie Drennan, division chief of operations for the Denver Fire Department.

One person was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Drennan said. Further details on the injuries were not available.

Firefighters kept the fire contained to the one property. The garage where the fire started is on the back side of the home.

Electrical wires feeding the residence are down in the alleyway, which complicated firefighting efforts, Drennan said.

Firefighters have not yet determined what caused the explosions.
