The Burnaby oil spill in 2007 was a reminder for many people in BC of the danger of oil exports. Unfortunately at the very same time this spill was taking place Kinder Morgan and their partners were in the midst of expanding oil exports through the Burrard Inlet from the terminal in Burnaby. Four years later the big oil companies plead guilty to causing this spill but it doesn't seem like they learned their lesson. Plans are under way for further expansions to the Kinder Morgan pipeline and tanker traffic through the inlet.
