On April 8, 1958 on the top floor above Dunn's Delicatessen on St Catherine Street in Montreal, Leonard Cohen, then 23 years old, began collaborating with the stellar jazz pianist, trombonist, and bandleader Maury Kaye, performing his poetry to the music of Kaye & members of his band. His first show included the poem, "The Gift," which was recorded. The background of this performance and the credits for the photos and audio track used can be found at http://1heckofaguy.com/?p=13166
