Part 101. Protecting President Kimball During His Hoover Dam Speech

Now that Ranger Grant tasked me with helping President Kimball when he arrives, I am preparing for his visit by buying a few new toys (the gatling laser and a tri-beam laser rifle). I also dip into my stash of ammo at Novac, then return to Hoover Dam and let Grant know that I'm ready. He asks me to look around the dam for signs of foul play and possible assassination attempts. I look all over, but nothing really seems out of place. This is the quest "You'll Know It When It Happens".

I report that the coast is clear, and just then President Kimball arrives in a vertibird. Colonel Moore escorts him to the podium, and I notice beyond the stage that someone fell off of a guard tower. I thought it was a game bug, but nope, an NCR ranger was slaughtered then tossed off the tower. I climb the tower, discover that it's a Legionnaire in disguise, then I chop him into stew. I radio Ranger Grant about what happened, and he calls off the speech. There's a second assassin in the crowd, but NCR rangers pop his head off. The president leaves safely, and Grant seems satisfied.

I go back to Colonel Moore, who is glad the whole thing is over. She then tells me to report to General Oliver on the other side of the dam for debriefing. The final battle is very close, but I'm not quite ready. I get the warning on the screen: "You are committing to fight with the NCR". To fight the final battle for Hoover Dam, I have to be totally prepared, so I tell her I need a little more time...
