Born "John Lyon" on 12/4/48 in Neptune, New Jersey.
Southside Johnny only achieved moderate success on the Pop Charts in the U.S.
their Biggest hit was "I'm So Anxious" which reached # 71 in 1979.This song "Walk Away Renee" was their last appearance on the charts.Despite receiving active rotation airplay in NYC and Philadelpia, and a few major markets, this single only reached # 98.

Finally somebody posted the original studio version of Southside Johnny's version of this song!  Thank you!  There were a lot of live versions, but this beats them all.  He took the Left Banke's wonderful 1966 classic song and made it a work of art.  Love this!

I love this song and this group, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, does it with soul!! Very nice!!!

I really don't understand how anyone could think this is better than left banke
We are going to see SS Johnny.....Friday night to celebrate my 54th birthday. My fav song, done at our wedding 23 years ago on Oct. 6th, "walk away renee". I really hope they are as good as this video in 1986 - not like the drawn out rasppe sound in newer videos. Can't wait....
