Seth you are a genious! I've just purchased a phone from Amazon. It arrived today but the damn thing wouldn't turn on. After some unsuccessful research I figured the battery might be dead. I dusted up some old RC Car electric motor and connected the wires to the battery. Nothing. I did a backup test with a LED diode I had lying around and sure as hell, that thing didn't light up either. Searched for solutions and found yours. I am glad I have! Stripped a useless USB cable, connected the Red to the Plus and the Black to the Minus and charged it with the phone's charger. I left it there for 20 minutes and the phone turned on. The battery was still empty but I could charge it with the phone from there on. You rock!

This video should be titled "how to bypass your phones charging control", this won't brink back a battery with excessive memory or a shorted/failed cell.
