This lesson incorporates music and art! Rattles are one of the few musical instruments found throughout the world. Construct a clay pod inspired by natural shapes like shells or gourds. Inside, place pellets made of clay or beans or rice to create the sound. Your students will not only learn about sculptural structures but also how different shaped pods and pellets will produce a variety of sounds and tones. After building your Percussive Pod, have a rhythmic concert!
