Please see original image credits below. On the Corner of Doncaster Road and Hamilton Road. I'm not sure when this closed down (2008 maybe?), but it looks like it might have been converted to a Chinese restaurant at some point. It's quite an attractive building; it's large and spacious and must have been a decent boozer back in the day. The first image in this video shows the building as it originally looked as a hotel, possibly in the early 1900s. Many pubs in this area lost custom after the closure of the local pits (Denaby, Cadbey, Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe, Brodsworth, Barnbrough), and the advent of cheep alcohol in super markets probably marked the end of 'The Goldthorpe'. I guess it'll be demolished soon to make way for a few houses...
Original photo was a scanned postcard from Andrew's Mexborough page (http://www.mexborough.pwp.blueyonder....) please see his site for loads of great images. I've tried seeking permission for this image but no luck yet, Hopefully Andrew will be in touch soon.
