http://www.imabeerhound.com We chatted with Chas Thompson, head brewer from Schmohz Brewing in Grand Rapids, at the Michigan Winter Beer Festival. Schmohz was started by a group of old Michigan Tech college buddies. During the long road trips to and from Houghton, they began discussing openeing a brewery and became a life long dream. After finding an appropriate space and getting their licenses, they opened their doors for business in 2004. Although some are only seasonal, they feature over 20 beers across just about every style. They pour from a 12 tap system at their brewpub on Patterson, just a mile or so north of 28th Street on the southeast side of Grand Rapids.
