This was Danielle's first experience in paranormal investigating. As a non-believer, this really opened her eyes to the spiritual world!
We believe this is the famous ghost, "La Llorona", meaning "The Crying Woman" in Spanish.
According to old tales, La Llorona drowned her children and felt that God would not allow her into heaven, so she roams from waterfront to waterfront looking for her kids! She has also been seen inside buildings! It would be interesting to see if there was a canal or body of water close to this mansion.
I would also like to mention that Danielle is of Hispanic decent. La Llorona supposedly follows people of Hispanic descent wherever they go and has sometimes been known to attack. However, Danielle's incident did not involve any physical threat.
After sharing this story with my sister-in-law Cindy (who is also Hispanic), she shared with me that as children, her mother would always bring her and her siblings into the house before dark. This is a well-known legend in their culture and as they lived by a canal, her mother did not want to risk the chance of encountering La Llorona. Sightings of La Llorona passing there were frequent.
