"Predator" was first released on blu-ray in April 2008 on an antiquated 25GB disc featuring an MPEG-2 codec which sported heavy grain and lots of artifacting. It was re-released in June 2010 on a newer 50GB dual-layer disc featuring a much-improved MPEG-4 codec. Artifacting was gone but the film's grain-structure was entirely obliterated, and fine details are all but vanished. Is one transfer better than the other? Not necessarily, but you may have a clear favorite.
