The rivalry between football clubs Rangers and Celtic goes past typical name calling and dives into violence, racial slurs and pure hatred.

The rivalry between Glasgow's "Old Firm" sides is the most famous in world football. It's the game's flagship loathing, proof of the power of the sport to inspire profound levels of tribal loyalty and a near-Pavlovian revulsion at anything to do with a rival. We examine the situation and try to get a handle on the political, religious, and national identity clashes that have shaped the rivalry, speak to fanzine editors on both sides of the divide and travel with the Bhoys' away support to a match at Tannadice.

I get that both sides have been involved in foolish terrible acts but as a Celtic fan with no religious affiliation or cultural hatred for Rangers I think it sucks all Celtic and Rangers fans get labeled into the same pool. I am actually excited to see the Rangers back in the SPL. Football is so much better with the Old Firm.

What is it about football that turns people in to dribbling idiots? WE LOST! LET'S DESTROY THE STADIUM! WE WON! LET'S STILL DESTROY THE STADIUM FOR SOME REASON! It's odd, because football is a pretty soft, elegant sport compared to like rugby, let alone MMA, which might have occasional bouts of violence, but no hooliganism problem. My theory, it's so fucking long and tedious that people don't really like it that much, they just think they do because there's fuck all else for a lot of people to do and social pressure to like it and they gradually get angrier as they get more bored and have to liven it up with booze and a fight.
