It's great to see how a great game is timeless, and such is the case with Atari's classic game Breakout. That block breaking barn burner busted into our brains back in bineteen beventy bix....uhm, 1976, and games with similar gameplay are still being made today.

In 1986, Taito released Arkanoid, a game that took Breakout into outer space and added a bunch of new features to the original gameplay. A very popular game, Arkanoid had many follow-ups, including the 1997 arcade and PlayStation release Arkanoid Returns.

Arkanoid R2000 is actually just Arkanoid Returns with Dual Shock controller support. I couldn't determine if there are any additional features. I did read a forum post...somewhere...stating that it also has improved mouse control, but, I can't verify that.

Nonetheless, if you don't have either Returns or R2000, I would think R2000 is the better choice, just to be able to use the Dual Shock. Unless you happen to have a mouse, or the limited edition paddle controller that came with Puchi Carat. That might be the best...but I don't have one. I am intrigued by the possibility of using a JogCon controller with this game, but I don't have that either. It is something I have planned to get for years, and one day I'm sure I will, and perhaps I could do a quick update about how it works with this game, if it does at all.

So blah blah blah, it's Arkanoid with new power-ups, a lot of extra levels, 2-player squash mode, and it's on the PlayStation. If you like Arkanoid, I would think you'd like this one. As far as I know it was only released in Japan, so, you have to, you know, be able to play Japanese imports. Unless you are in Japan, in which case you are all set. Amazing insight I just dropped on you all. Only the best from Nice and Games. lol
