A new study suggests that in women who carry a BRCA gene mutation, mammograms or any chest x-rays before age 30 may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. Mammograms can be important for the early detection of breast cancer, but MRI and/or ultrasound exams may be more helpful in very young women.
