A composition by our drummer Hamza, created by making melodies using rhythmic instruments.
"The Drum Ensemble was an idea inspired by Gavin Harrison's Drum song and Cymbal song. I happened to stumble upon a specific tom tuning and the main hook was created while jamming on some random jungle grooves. I kinda liked the melody that the toms created and I wrote the rest of the song using just the toms and a couple of snares. I tried adding as much dynamics and rhythmic variations as possible within in a 4/4 framework. After laying the main drumtrack down in a single take, I overdubbed the percussive instruments, cymbals, snares and bells. I didn't really have specific parts in mind. I just went with the flow, recorded single takes and edited and composed the overdubs in Power Director. I hope I'm able to convey the ideas of my first ensemble composition. Share it if you like it and thanks for watching." - Hamza Kazi
