Professor Narges Erami primarily works on the relationship between economy and religion and how it is played out in rituals of everyday life. Her research is centered in the Holy City of Qum in Iran. Professor Erami's work includes a historical and ethnographic study of carpet merchants, and she is currently researching the cultural production of authority and knowledge through publications of Islamic texts and their global circulation. We talk with her about her forthcoming book on the Persian rug bazaar.
