On March 9, 2012, CNN's Suzanne Malveaux interviewed Maggie Anderson, author of "Our Black Year" and Founder of The Empowerment Experiment, to get her response to the latest US Jobs Report. Maggie tells Suzanne that Black unemployment is disproportionately high because there is not enough support for Black-owned businesses - from consumers and Corporate America. The segment is historic because it finally connects Black buying power, Black business power, and how they both to can work together to create much-needed jobs in underserved African American communities. The interview proved that less than six percent of the trillion dollars in Black buying power makes it to Black businesses. When that number grows, so will Black employment.
