Born in 1959. Mary Ellen Iskenderian holds a Bachelor of Science in international economics from Georgetown Universitys School of Foreign Service and an MBA from the Yale School of Organization and Management.

Mary Ellen Iskenderian started her professional career with Lehman Brothers. Subsequently, from 1989 to 2006, she worked in senior management at the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group. During these 17 years at the International Finance Corporation, she held various positions including director of partnership development, director of the global financial markets portfolio and director of the South Asia regional department. In 2006, Mary Ellen Iskenderian joined Womens World Banking, a global network of 54 microfinance providers and banks, where she holds the position of President and Chief Executive Officer.

In addition, Mary Ellen Iskenderian is a member of the Advisory Boards of the Dignity Fund and Kiva. She is also a member of the Womens Leadership Board of Harvard University and the Council on Foreign Relations.
